International Fashion Festival:
Time: The first half of September
The Dalian Internatonal Fashion Festival is a grand occasion for the
Dalian people, a distinguished gathering of international economy and
culture with a combination of trade, culture and tourism. During the
fashion show period, hundreds of thousands of traders both at home and
abroad come to hold talks on trade: fashion models from a dozen of
countries and regions throughout the world come to Dalian to present
fashion show; famous fashion designers and new stars both at home and
abroad come forth to announce their latest representative works; artists,
singers, dancers, movie and TV stars from different parts of the world
come over to give their performance; VIP of political circles, diplomatic
envoys, journalists and tourists over the world come to pay visits, do
sightseeing and shopping and make interviews; city residents in their
millions pour out in all directions to give their touring shows; it is
indeed an unprecedentedly grand occasion.
“Bingyu”(Ice Valley) and Ice Lantern Festival:
Time: First half of January
Taking different kinds of large-scale ice sculptures as the main event,
such colourful and enriched ice-sports as ice-skating, ice hockey and
iceboating and ice-khana are on show. There are also such performances
imbued with very strong flavour of folk custom as plough drawn by dogs and
goats, etc.
Viewing Chinese Scholartree Festival:
Time: Later half of May
When the Chinese scholartree flowers are in full blossom from the end
of May to early June, the whole city is clad in white with the delicate
fragrance drifting about and the tourists pouring in from all directons to
enjoy the magnificent sight and to have taste of delicacies. During this
period, there is invitational tournament of international kite flying,
Chinese Scholartree Viewing PEN for calligraphers at home and abroad, the
Exchange and Performance of International Folk Cultures and Arts,
International Study Group on Journalism and other activities.
The International Marathon Event:
Time: The last Sunday of October
The Dalian International Marathon Event is recognized by the
International Track and Field Federation as an international game. It is
sponsored by the Dalian Municipal Government with the help and support of
the All Nippon Airline enterprise and other institutions. Its main
characteristics lie in the fact that the citizens of Dalian and visitors
at home and abroad is actively taking part in.
