The Dragon Boat Rowing On Duanwu Festival:

The Duanwu Festival (Dragon Boat Festival) is on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, which is an ancient festival among the people in China. The main celebration of the festival is the Dragon Boat Rowing. The Guilin Dragon Boat Rowing is held almost every year and the scale is grand.

On the very day, the Dragon Boats are arrayed like the formation of the wild geese on the Lijiang River. With the bugle call rising and falling, drum beat sonorous and forceful on the river and wielding, the Dragon Boats try to take over each other in emulation, the of which is magnificent indeed .The whole town turns out and a sea of people appears on the banks of the river. The traditional foodstuff of this festival is Zongzi (a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves).

Lunar March 3rd Festival:

"March 3rd Festival" is the traditional song festival of the Zhuang Nationality, otherwise called "Gexu Festival (Songs Emulation on Fair Ground)". Before the festival, people make preparations of five colored rice and colorful eggs, while girls embroider balls made of strips of silk. On the Gexu day, youngsters and girls all wear festival costume going in groups with male carrying gifts and female carrying balls of silk strips. Shouldering the Goddess image, Third Sister Liu, some march around the Gucci and thereafter-antiphonal singing starts.

With some male and female standing facing each other, girls throw balls towards boys respectively with each taking a fancy to. If the bay on the opposite side is satisfied with the girl, then he lies the gift to the ball and throws back to the girl. Now the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government has set lunar March 3rd as the Song Festival of the Zhuang Nationality for each year, hence the gradual development of the "March 3rd" Festival of culture and art.

Lijiang Folk Customs Garden.

It is situated on the banks of the Lijiang and at the Liangjiang River mouth, Linjiang Road, Guilin City.
