¡@ Ningbo China lies on the coast of Zhejiang province, and is bounded on the east by the East China Sea. Today the city of about 5.17 million people is open to tourism and trade. It has a total area of 9,365 square kilometers.

To the west of Ningbo City are mountains. Between these mountains and the sea is a fat plain with a dense network of waterways. Off its coast there are beautiful islands. Ningbo has a subtropical monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of 16.1C. Annual rainfall averages 1,350 millimeters. It has about 240 frost-free days.

Ningbo has many mineral deposits, including arenaceous quartz, fluorite, gypsum, and pearlite, and is also rich in agricultural, forest, aquatic, and beach resources, including sea salt.

Ningbo is a major industrial center. Its essential industries are textiles, mechanical engineering, food processing, petrochemical, and power. The oil processing, hardware making, and food processing capabilities are very prominent in China.
