Shopping in Qingdao  

From the well-known Tsingtao Beer, Laoshan Mineral Water to its shell carvings, Qingdao - the seaside city of China - is famous for its variety of commercial products. Laoshan Tea, diamond ornaments, seafood, Jimo Millet Wine, shell crafts, straw crafts are typical Qingdao specialties and souvenirs.  The main shopping and commercial street runs along Zhongshan Lu, although most of the shops here are either clothing or food orientated. 

Qingdao Zhongshan Commercial Street
Location: It is located in Zhongshan Road, a center road of the city.
Zhongshan Commercial Street, with hundreds of shops, big or small, is a very busy shopping street of Qingdao.
Jimo Road market and Zhongshan Underground Market connect with it.  The municipal government carried a major beautifying project over the street to make itself a place for shopping and recreation.  It is the first choice for people who want to go shopping and have recreational activities. 

Longshan Underground Commercial Street
Location: No. 14, Longshan Road, Qingdao, below Xinhaoshan Park (Xinhaoshan gongyuan).
All typical Qingdao products can be found here including seafood, shell crafts, beer, etc.

Jimo Road Market
Location: It may be taken as a part of Zhongshan Road.  Along the street of Zhongshan Road, it is not difficult to spot the Market. Seafood, shell crafts, straw crafts are offered here. 

Dongtai Jusco Shopping Center
Location: 72, Hongkong Zong Road in the Southern District of Qingdao, China.
Take No.25, No.33, No.104, No.201, No.304, and No.316 buses and get off at Ocean Hotel Stop.It is a large modern shopping center with food supermarket and clothing booths. There are 40 special shops along the 2 sides of commercial passageway in the Shopping Center.  

Hisense (Haixin) Plaza Shopping in Qingdao

Location: On Zhongshan Lu, just off Qingdao Lu.
It is the best shopping area.

Location: Changle Road, Qingdao.
It looks like a free market with lots of independent small shops selling antiques, stamps, second-hand books, artworks, etc.

Cultural Relics Store

Established in 1961, it is the only store selling cultural relics and antiques in the city with approval from the Ministry of Culture and the State Bureau of Cultural Relics. It mainly handles the mail orders of cultural relics, cultural relics replicas, gold and silver jewelry, wholesales, retails and also sells writing brushes, ink sticks, paper, ink slabs, fine arts and crafts, calligraphic works, paintings, seals, mounting materials and fine art goods, etc.

Shell Carving Arts and Crafts Store

It is the appointed foreign unit for tourist products.  The goods in the store are mainly shell-carving crafts made of rare shells, which are carved carefully in their natural colors and veins.  Major products include hanging pictures themed with mountains, waters, human beings and still living, easily-carried little painting screens, solid table sets, mementos and jewelries.  Choice of paintings is numerous.

There are now over 90,000 different goods being sold at the store, including household electrical appliances, motorbikes and clothing.   Much attention is also put into the selling of food, handicrafts, textiles, etc. resulting a multi-dimensioned commercial system.  The store also has its own underground parking lot.  Vendors hawking cheap souvenirs and crafts made of seashells – a welcomed proof that seldom features in other stores in Qingdao - can be found in this massive department store.

Fada Department Store
