Tianjin
with its special location and history has since played an even more important
role in China's economy, which also contributed to the fact that a Chinese
emperor was compelled to make it an open port to foreign merchants. From antiques to western modern
clothing, Tianjin is one of China's best places to go shopping. A variety of specialty goods that
Tianjin produces such as carpets, New Year posters and clay figurines are very
famous in the world.
Binjiang Dao (Bingjiang Street)
With block upon block of stalls and shops, it is the busiest shopping streets in Tianjing and the
best place for general shopping.
It contains almost anything you might fancy.
Heping Business Street
It is located west of Haihe River and across the
Biangjiang Dao. It started to be
built in 1902 and many famous business buildings of Tianjin can be found here -
Tianxiang Department, Quanye Department, Taikang Department, Bohai Tower, and
Zhejiang Xingye Bank, etc. In
addition, you can also find a few Chinese traditional famous stores.
Zhongxin Park Shopping District
Zhongxin Park is the northern boundary of the main shopping district, with
surrounding roads of Dagu Lu, Jinzhou Dao and Chifeng Dao.
Shenyang Antique Market (Guwan shichang)
It is located at Shengyan Dao, Heping District.
The most popular destination for those shoppers to Tianjin has to be the Antique
Market (Guwan shichang). This area, just west of the main shopping district, is
packed full of curios both old and new.
Even if you don’t intend to buy anything, you will still have fun strolling the
alleys, which are lined with dark, small shops and stalls. The size of the
market varies according to the time of a year and also date of the week, when
Sunday attracting swarms of Beijing people bargain hunting.
Gulou (Drum-Tower) Business Street
It is in the center of the City and 22 km away from the
Tianjin Train West Station, 18km from Tianjin Airport. Many shopping streets surround this area. Xinan Shopping Street, Ancient culture
Street, Wen Temple, Hotel Street can be easily reached.
Quanye Bazaar Department Store
The Quanye Bazaar Department Store, a nine-stores steel construction on the
corner of Changchun Dao and Heping Lu, is popular as the only Department Store
in China that uses real people instead of mannequins to model its clothes.
Nirenzhang Clay Figurine Store
It stands on the Ancient Culture Street. Clay figurines have been famous in
Tianjin ever since the Master of clay, Zhang mingshan, came on the scene in the
nineteenth century. The Store is
the best place to get these figurines and to purchase your New Year posters.
Yangliuqing New Year Poster Shop
It is a small town to the west of Tianjin and famous for its art printing
produced in early times.
