Dear Colin, We returned to London yesterday after a most successful trip, I am sorry that we just ran out of time in HKG and did not get to see you. The arrangements you made for us in China worked perfectly,we were met in each location and transferred according to plan. The chap in Wuhan did a particularly good job because the ship arrived late at 1840 due to fog but he got us away on the last flight to SHA. Whilst we were impressed with the buildings and development of Shanghai we were slightly dissappointed with the city itself and felt that we should probably had a day on our own without a guide who tends to keep one to the normal tourist path whilst we would have liked to explore the city and the shops. The only problem we had was in CKG, we arrived in the dark and were taken to the docks. There were two Victoia line ships, we stopped first at the Dolphin where the staff on the Quayside checked the manifest but could not find our names and said we must be on the next ship which was the Pearl,We went down all those steps, about one hundred feet with our baggage to be told that we were not on that boat.I refused to move, they tried to get me to upgrade to a suite which I refused, meanwhile the guide rang the Dolphin on his mobile who said we were on their list. However Isaid they would have to find me a cabin on the Pearl because it was Victoria Line's mistake and I was not prepared to go up all those wet rickety wooden steps again. Eventaually after much phoning they found us a cabin and after that all was well! Thank you for making the arrangements for us at a difficult time.
David
