Situated in the middle of Henan Province, Kaifent is a famous city with a history of over 3000 years. As one of the six ancient capital cities of China, Kaifeng was once the capital of seven dynasties.
All the existing ruins of the ancient city of Kaifent prove that the city was rebuilt several times in different dynasties.
Kaifeng has many well-known historic relics, including the Xiangguo Temple, the Iron Pagoda, and the Dragon Pavilion (Longting). The Xiangguo Temple is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China.
An old Catholic church that is still standing on the Lishiting Street shows that Catholicism spread in Kaifeng long time ago.
The Zhuxiangzhen New Year posters and the silk embroidery of the Song style are the traditional specialties. The poster first appeared during the Tang Dynasty (618AD-907AD) and flourished during the Ming Dynasty (1368AD-1644AD). The silk embroidery has been famous since the Song Dynasty (960AD-1127AD).
Traditional food includes baked carp with noodles, small steamed stuffed buns (Xiaolong Baozi), and roast chickens.
