| There
are about 27,000 Acheng people in China. They mainly live in Yunnan Province.
The Achang people call themselves Mengsa or Echang. Their ancestors were the Echang people who had settled in the region before the Yuan Dynasty. The language of the Achang people belongs to the Tibetan-Burmese language group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. It has no written form. This ethnic group is famous for growing rice and making knives. |
