The Kazak Nationality

The Kazak Nationality mainly lives in compact communities in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region and Gansu Province. Its population is 1.111 million.
In history, the Kazak Nationality was called "Heza", "Keza" etc. The Kazak Nationality was gradually merged up from ancient tribes of Wuaun, Xiongnu (Hun) etc.
The Kazak Nationality has its own language and writing. The former belongs to the Altai language family while the latter is the alphabetic writing based on Arabic alphabet.
The Kazak Nationality mainly goes in for animal husbandry. The overwhelming majority of the Kazak herdsmen move about for changing pasture in accordance with the seasons, leading a nomadic life of searching water and grass. A handful of people who have gone in for agriculture have already settled down.
