The La Hu Nationality mainly lives in compact communities in Yunnan Province. Its population is 0.411 million. The La Hu Nationality calls itself "La Hu", "La Hu Na" and "La Hu Xi" etc. Same as the Yi Nationality and the Na Xi Nationality, the origin of the La Hu Nationality was also from the ancient Di Nationality and the Qiang Nationality families. The La Hu Nationality has its own language which belongs to Chinese-Tibetan language family. It used Latin alphabetic form of writing which was created by western missionaries. The La Hu Nationality mainly goes in for agriculture. Its major plantings are paddy and maize, and industrial crops like tea leaves, tobacco, sisal hemp etc., and industrial forestry like pine tree, China fir, nanmu tree and camphor wood etc., are concurrently managed. |
