The Gelo Nationality

There are about 437,000 Gelo people in China. Most of them live in different areas in Guizhou Province. A few of them reside in Guangxi.
According to historical records, this ethnic group used to be called Geliao, and they are the descendants of the ancient Liao people.
The language of the Gelo people belongs to the Chinese-Tibetan language family. It does not have written form.
Agriculture is the main occupation of the nationality. Corns are their chief farm products.
