The Jino nationality has a population of 18,000. The Jino people mainly reside in Yunnan Province. It is said that the Jino people migrated to the region from Pu'er and Mojiang or places even further north in ancient time. The spoken language of this ethnic minority belongs to the Tibetan-Burmese group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. They have no written language. Agriculture is the mainstay of the nationality. The chief farm products include rice, corns, cotton, tea, and subtropical fruit.
