Located in the southern part of Anhui Province, Huangshan City is named after the famous Huangshan Mountain. A newly developed tourism city, Huangshan has a land area of 9,807 square kilometers and a population of 1.45 million.

The well-protected sites include the Xuguo Stone Memorial Archway in Yixian County and the Xidi and Jilian local-style dwelling houses of the Ming and Qing dynasties in Yixian County.

Huangshan city government is located at Tunxi where there is a well-known commercial pedestrian street with lots of buildings in the architecture style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Along the ancient street there are lots of shops and stores. The historic old town is also famous for its rich cultures such as painting, print, seal cutting, architecture, bonsais, carvings and food, which are well known in China.

Huangshan City has many famous local products, such as timber products, bamboo products, tea, dry and fresh fruits, silkworm cocoon, Chinese medicinal herbs, mushroom, agaric, tung tree, raw lacquer and palm tree, etc. Huangshan tea is especially well known in China and is warmly welcomed by Chinese tea lovers. Ink-stick and ink-slab produced in the city are also famous among ancient Chinaˇ¦s ˇ§four treasures of the studyˇ¨ (writing brush, ink-stick, ink-slab and paper). The Huizhou brick carvings, woodcarvings, stone carvings and bamboo carvings are treasures of folk arts in China.
