The Lam Yuen is one of the three big ancient Buddhist temples in Hong Kong. It is secluded in the deep and quiet valley and forest on the Northwest Hill of Avalokitesvara (Guan Yin). The temple was constructed in the Ming Dynasty by the son of the 15th generation of Kam Tin Deng family, which was intended as a seclusion for the concubine of his father nee Wong to practise Buddhist cultivation. Outside the temple, pipal tree is planted in memory of the attainment of the Way by the Buddhist patriarch, leading to musing over things of the remote past.
