The Long Islands, namely the Miaodao Isles, is famous for its blue sky, blue water, bright sunshine, beautiful beach and pure air. It is an important integrated part of the national-grade seashore scenic area and the national-level forest park of the Jiaodong Peninsula. The scenery with hills and waters at the Long Islands is as beautiful as a charming landscape painting, with each isle having its own unique feature and charm. The Ten-Thousand-Birds Island, for instance, is a paradise for all kinds of birds and when birds soar to the sky, they can even block the sunlight, presenting a magnificent view. The Big and Small Bamboo Mountain Islands get their name due to the lush bamboos on the islands where tourists can see small rivers wandering through green bamboo forests, which creates a beautiful view of South China on the vast waters of blue sea. Small Black Mountain Island is a paradise for snakes and there are more than 10,000 poisonous snakes on the island, making it the second largest snake island in China. Touji Island is a world of stones and on the island, tourists can find a great number of colorful stones, with some forming a stone forest. Reflected by the colorful stones, the island becomes a flowery fresco world of exquisite and elegant-shaped stones with rich varieties.
The Long Islands has an annual average temperature of 19˘J, warm in winter and cool in summer. It enjoys fresh air, quiet and beautiful environment, and unpolluted blue water. Mirage and advection fog are marvelous spectacles formed due to special weather conditions on the sea. The Long Islands is one of the places where there is a high frequency of the occurring of mirage in China and the best time to get a chance to see mirage is between July and August, after rains. On the Long Islands, tourists can also climb high to watch the sun rising from the Yellow Sea and enjoy the beautiful sunset view in the Bohai Sea, which creates a splendid view of red sunshine dyeing all the mountains and forests into bright red and intoxicates tourists.
