In the proximity to the Queensway, the Bank of China opposite to the Chater Garden was designed by the American Chinese great architect Yi Ming Bei, 74 storeyed high, ranking the second highest buildings in Hong Kong, soaring into the sky like the bamboo trunks. It is the General Headquarters of the Bank of China. The Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation diagonally opposite to the Bank of China Tower, which is located at the Des Voeux Road facing the Queen's Statue Square, was designed by the Master architect Sir Norman Foster. A pair of bronze lions stand at the entrance. They have been placed in front of the gate since 1953. The outer wall of the Tower is paneled with glass in a geometric figure, characteristic of modern architectural style. It is a hi-tec building; the most spectacular feature of the tower lies in its electric escalator connecting the ground floor and the Great Hall.

The Exchange Square near the Star Ferry Pier is composed of three new-type towers. It is the site of Hong Kong Joint Stock Exchange institution. The newly rising tower in the vicinity sits the Hong Kong Finance Center and also a financial exchange center. The Lyndhurst Terrace in its vicinity is the terminal from the Central District to mid-way automatic escalator, and also the world longest outdoor-covered escalator, which was built in 1993 with a total length of 800 meters. Taking a ride on the escalator, one can reach the So Ho gourmet food district. As is situated at the Hollywood Road South, adopting the initials SOHO, thus named as SOHO. Lots of restaurants are run in this area with different cousins; the gourmet foods from various countries are assembled here.
