Standing beside the western bank of the Li River, Wave-Subduing Hill Park offers a fine view of the city. It is composed of Wave-subduing Hill and some beautiful gardens.
The name of the hill is derived from the fact that the peak descends into the river, blocking the waves. Passing by some terraces and pavilions, the stone path winds its way to the top of the hill. On the southern slope of the hill is Returned Pearl Cave (Huanzhu Dong). Near this cave are Thousand Buddhist Cave (Qianfo Dong) and Coral Cave (Shanhu Dong). On the hill there are also many inscriptions and relics from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
