Yu Hua Tai
  Yu Hua Tai lies on a hill outside the Zhonghua Gate of Nanjing City. The hill is 100 meters high and 3000 meters in distance. It is formerly named Shizigang. Here, with its spectacular views and numerous ancient sites, was a famous place for climbing and sightseeing in ancient time. Because of some resents of history, the place for Chinese people is a sacred place to cherish the memory of martyrs and purity their souls.

"Yu hua" means "raindrops" in Chinese and it always associated with something sad in Chinese literature. Unexpectedly, the name of the place corresponds to the reality. On 12th, April 1927, Jiang Jie Shi, the main leader of Koumingtang staged a coup d'état to oppose the Communist and butcher revolutionists and revolutionary workers. At that time, Yu Hua Tai became an execution ground and many thousands of revolutionists were slaughtered here. In 1950, after establishing of the People’s Republic of China, the place was turned to a park in memory of the martyrs. Yu Hua Tai is located in an artificial forest covering an area of 86.87 hectare. The most noticeable is the group of martyr's statue in huge size. Behind of it, it is one of the execution grounds. There is a Monument to the revolutionary martyrs with a Mao Ze Dong's inscription in calligraphy: "Long Live the Martyrs!" standing on the highest peak of the mountain. In 1979, Deng Xiao Ping also autographed words for the renovated Monument: "Yu Hua Tai Monument to the Martyrs."
